This gold chain necklace is an antiqued gold color. The textured double cable chain measures 26 inches and holds a 3 inch, satin gold and filigree hollow pendant hanging from a textured .5 inch hoop. It has a nice weight to it and not heavy. The metal tag is stamped Monet. The sister clasp is original to the necklace and is still functional. Monet patented the sister clasp in the 40's.

The gold plating is starting to wear off, giving this necklace an antiqued gold appearance.

This metal necklace is circa 1950 and made by a high end costume jewelry maker of the time. The first half of the 20th century was the heyday for well made costume jewelry sold from fine department stores to Woolworth, usually made in Europe or the United States. The manufacture and quality of costume jewelry deteriorated in the latter part of the century making this era the last with enduring products.
