This T shirt celebrates Northern Soul with the oft hailed 'keep the faith' slogan. Originating in late 1960s Northern England, this off-shoot from the established Mod-scene espoused the more underground aspects of Motown/Soul. Less known and less commercially viable music was promoted from smaller, more regional labels such as Golden Records & Okeh Records. The music promoted by fiercely competitive DJs tended toward rhythm & pace; sessions would run all night long, participants often fueled by amphetamines. This greater emphasis on the dance- element of the nightclub experience could be said to be the precursor of styles such as Breakdancing, Disco & Rave.
