This 2-piece top and skirt ensemble hails from the late 30's to early 40's before all the major global changes in fashion occurred, such as fabric and silk rationing. It still retains a bit of whimsy, with its reverse color palette floral print. It is also a very feminine ensemble, with soft lines and lovely details. The blouse or lightweight jacket features soft tiny shoulder pad structures to help them keep shape. The collar has rounded lapels, and the 3/4 length sleeves have a pleat design inner elbow. The top's close fit is acquired via princess seams, as well as rouching that emanates from the center front button panels, giving the top a curved hem. The skirt is a straight style silhouette, with light flare and a knee-length hem, and a three button side hip closure. No lining or pockets or labels present. The overall condition is very good, with very few signs of wear or age; two small repairs at the upper right sleeve, as well as some light rusting/discoloration around the metal bases of the self-covered buttons.
