Kazuyoshi Akiyama (conductor), THE TOKYO SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
Description:
The Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra, which has been sending "wishes and prayers for peace" to the world through music from Hiroshima, the International City of Peace and Culture, has recorded its second session following "Scheherazade" (FOCD9400). In 2003, the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra performed Rachmaninoff No. 2 at the Great Hall of the Philharmonic in St. Petersburg, Russia (in commemoration of the 300th anniversary of the city's founding), and received a great ovation from the local audience. The piece was performed in 2003 at the Grand Hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic in Russia (in commemoration of the 300th anniversary of the city's founding), where it received a great ovation from the local audience, which is a demanding audience. Akiyama became Principal Conductor and Music Advisor of the NHK Symphony Orchestra in 1998, and was appointed Music Director and Permanent Conductor in 2004, and their close relationship over the past 10 years is reflected in their precise music. This recording was made after a subscription performance of the same piece. Under Akiyama's baton, the lyricism and functional beauty of the music shine through in this masterful performance.
