One of the earliest GTOs and the first right-hand drive model produced, this car was originally earmarked for Stirling Moss to race in the 1962 Le Mans 24 hours, before his Goodwood accident cut short his career. He remained part-owner alongside UDT Laystall racing (formerly known as BRP (British Racing Partnership - established in 1957 by Alfred Moss - Stirling’s father and Ken Gregory - his manager).

The uniquely painted car was raced with considerable success throughout UK in 1962, before being entered in the ’62 Le Mans where it was DNF. The team referred to the pale green colour as ‘mint green’ and the tartan stripe is thought to be the Gibson tartan in honour of Bob Gibson Jarvie who was deputy chairman of UDT.

The car illustrated here was the 1962 Tourist Trophy winner at Goodwood - driven by Innes Ireland.
