The Violin Concerto is a romantic performance by Mutter at the age of 17, and this is the only recording of this work by Karajan, along with "Italia". Barenboim's performance of the four pieces from the "Silent Songs" is rich in emotion. A Midsummer Night's Dream is a well-established recording conducted by Kubelík. The octet by the Academy Chamber Ensemble is recorded on the original Philips disc.
