Description:
Wu-Tang Wu-Tang was born into a violin workshop family in Verviers, a city near Liège. He was born to be a violinist, and showed his musical talent from an early age, making his public debut at the age of six, and earning the reputation of a child prodigy. While a virtuoso violinist, he also studied composition, and it is well known that he went on to compose many brilliant violin works. This album contains his masterpiece "Memories of Russia" and six works that make full use of his violin technique, including "Brilliant Duet," which is said to have inspired Brahms to write the double concerto. The expressive violin is played by German virtuoso Rate Kuppel, who served as concertmaster of the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks from 1997 to 2013. He also gives an excellent performance of Wu-Tang's works in the collection of unaccompanied violin works (8.573339). Naxos Japan
