Eduard Strauss was born the fourth son of Johann Strauss I. He was the younger brother of Johann Strauss II and Joseph Strauss. He was the younger brother of Johann Strauss II and Joseph Strauss, and was the central figure in a musical family with a son, Johann Strauss III, and a grandson, Eduard Strauss II. At the age of 37, he was appointed music director of the court ball and steadily built up his position, although his popularity at the time was lost to his two older brothers. He left behind just 300 works, many of which are fascinating polkas and gallops, and are very enjoyable to listen to. This album is the first time in the world that all of his works are performed with a full orchestra, allowing the listener to enjoy the richness of his music. Naxos Japan
