The In-Be-Tween formed in 1964 in Wolverhampton in the West Midlands of England and by the time of cutting their very fine two-sider debut consisted of Noddy Holder (guitar and vocals), Dave Hill (guitar), Jim Lea (bass) and Don Powell (drums). The core of the group had previously been in The Vendors, a local group.
"Security", which was written by Otis Redding, is fast-paced, fervent, powerful driving Mod rock with insistent guitar and excellent break, a strong bass line and thumping drums.
"Evil Witchman", which is also fine without matching the A-side, is uptempo garage rock played by guitar, tambourine, bass and drums topped by Holder's powerful vocal.
The version of "Security" is 15 seconds longer than on the Highland records promo 45. This version appears on the 'A Slight Disturbance In My Mind - The British Proto-Psychedelic Sounds of 1966' various artists compilation CD.
All tracks produced by Kim Fowley except "Delighted To See You" which was produced by Norman Smith.
The band subsequently evolved into Ambrose Slade and then Slade.
