The OEM clutch fork has a wide range of motion that can accommodate every combination/step height of clutch. Because clutch manufacturers can use different pressure plates that have different finger designs, the OEM fork design can move further in or out to meet the finger face on the pressure plate.

With a fixed bearing design like this, each install of this piece must be carefully checked for clearance. This is because if you have a pressure plate that has fingers that sit further back, this bearing will need to be adjusted accordingly. Also, if the pressure plate fingers stick out, then you would want to make sure there are minimum gaps. Clutchmasters recommends a 1/2 inch air gap between the bearing and pressure plate face at rest.

In order to check the clearances as mentioned above, you need to install the hydraulic bearing assembly into the transmission, and then mount the transmission, check the gap and then adjust if needed. If your bearing needs to be moved closer then you will need to use shims to space the bearing away from the transmission case. Keep in mind that the shim goes in between the bearing housing and the transmission. We have had some customers take the bearing out of the housing and put shims in the housing, which caused major problems. Do not do that!
