Schneider, Friedrich (1786-1853)
Description:
Friedrich Schneider was a German pianist and composer. He was taught to play the piano by his father, a musician, and studied music at the Gymnasium in Zittau. 18 years old, he published his first piano sonata and began his studies as a pianist at the University of Leipzig. From 1821, he was court music director in Dessau, and as a composer he left behind seven operas, 23 symphonies, and numerous other works. His style is a link between Haydn and Mendelssohn, and the heroic music of the "Symphony No. 16" on this album is very attractive. 20 overtures also have a refined style, and here you can hear three of them.
