Description:
Niquet's long-awaited recording of Grétry's masterpiece, now available as a music and video set! The Belgian-born Grétry was the most beloved composer in France in the late 18th century and remained extremely popular even after the French Revolution under the patronage of Marie-Antoinette, whose popularity did not wane after the 19th century, as evidenced by his portrait on the high value franc bill in his native Belgium before the euro was introduced and the use of his melody in Franco-Belgian composer Vladimir V. The popularity of Grétry's music has not diminished since the 19th century, as evidenced by his portrait being used on the high value franc bill in his native Belgium before the introduction of the euro, and his melody being used in the 5th Violin Concerto by Franco-Belgian composer Vladimir V. In addition to being the source for Wuertin's work, Blondel's romance "Burning Passion" was made into a variation for piano by Beethoven, Laurette's aria "I am afraid to talk to that man at night" was quoted by Tchaikovsky in his opera "The Queen of Spades," and Blondel's aria "I am afraid to talk to that man at night" was sung among the monarchists during the French Revolution. One of his most important works in the history of music is "Richard the Lionheart," which includes Blondel's aria "Oh Richard, Oh my King," which was sung by the monarchists during the French Revolution. This work, which depicts the rescue of King Richard I of England, aka Richard the Lionheart (Richard in French), who is said to have spent his life in battles and adventures, is a monumental work representing the early days of opera comique with its interspersed dialogues, yet surprisingly few recordings or images have appeared. This album is extremely valuable as a rare recording on ancient instruments, and the significance of having Niquet's team, which has made many famous recordings of 18th century French operas, work on it is immeasurable. The CD and DVD set includes a video performance by Pincoski, who is known for his classical productions. Niquet's performance is also full of power and splendor. Enjoy this dynamic and powerful performance, supported by a splendid cast of singers and detailed period research. Naxos Japan
