Description:
Schulze was a composer active in the 18th century. The cover of a collection of his Sinfonias entitled "Trattamento dell'Harmonia: Treatment of Harmony," published in Paris in 1733, bears the initials "M. C. Schultze D. B.," which, according to the international music archive RISM, means "Martin-Christian Schultze from Berlin. The six sinfonias are not only written in a harmonious form, but the viola da gamba requires a high level of technique, and Schultze is assumed to have been an excellent gamba player. Schulze must have been an excellent gamba player. The violin part requires the same high level of technique, but the flute part is relatively easy and was probably written for amateurs. The Ensemble Klingekunst, which is well versed in the music of the Baroque period, gives a lively performance. Naxos Japan
