A lovely official boat badge from a glorious Destroyer that fought bravely in WWll;  involved in Operation Dynamo, the Battle of the Atlantic and She also sank two enemy submarines. A piece from the esteemed Ferrers-Walker collection that was once on display at the National Museum of the Royal Navy in Portsmouth Dockyard.HMS Cygnet (H83) was a C-class destroyer, commissioned in 1932. Built by Vickers-Armstrong, she served throughout the 1930s and saw extensive action during the Second World War.

At the start of the war, Cygnet was primarily engaged in convoy escort duties in the North Sea and Atlantic, protecting merchant vessels from German U-boats and aircraft. In 1940, she took part in the evacuation of Allied forces from Dunkirk during Operation Dynamo, helping to rescue thousands of troops under heavy enemy fire. She played a key role in escorting supply convoys to Malta and North Africa, areas critical to the Allied war effort. HMS Cygnet was involved in operations related to the D-Day landings and continued convoy escort duties into 1945. After the war, she was decommissioned and sold for scrap in 1946. HMS Cygnet’s wartime service highlighted the crucial role of destroyers in both offensive operations and vital defensive escort missions.
