Description:

Zemlinsky's opera "The Dreaming Goerge" was composed between 1903 and 1906 at the suggestion of Mahler, and in 1907 he was chosen as Mahler's assistant at the Vienna Court Opera, but when Mahler resigned as artistic director, the production was cancelled and the work itself was forgotten. The work itself was also forgotten. However, thanks to the "decadent music revival" at the end of the 20th century, this opera has attracted attention, and was premiered in Japan in October 2005 by Gerd Albrecht, who loves Zemlinsky. This recording is one of the pioneers of the Zemlinsky revival, and is a performance of Albrecht's best work. Although many of Zemlinsky's works have tragic endings, this "Dreaming Gerge" is known to have a happy ending. Naxos Japan
